Mermaid is for engineers who live in Markdown and Git. Lucidchart is for product managers who live in browsers. BioRender is for biologists with slide decks. PlantUML is for architects with patience. Pick one, accept the tradeoffs, and never feel at home with anyone outside that tribe.

Glyph asks a different question: what if you didn't have to pick?

One studio, twenty engines

Glyph runs twenty diagram engines under one chrome — Mermaid, PlantUML, Graphviz, Vega/Vega-Lite, Plotly, BPMN, KaTeX, 3Dmol, Pikchr, D2, Wardley Maps, and more. They share a single toolbar, a single AI co-pilot, a single export pipeline. Switching from a sequence diagram to a Kaplan–Meier curve is a tab change, not a tool change.

The point isn't to be biggest. It's that the right tool for the diagram you need next is already in the studio.

Four surfaces

Beyond the code-driven Studio, Glyph ships three other workspaces — each tuned for a specific way of thinking:

Weave — drag-and-drop with 20 shape kinds, Sketch mode, motion animations, container groups, MiniMap. The Lucidchart experience, free.
Biology Composer — BioRender-style illustrated figures. 130+ curated shapes plus search across all of Iconify's 200k+ icons.
Sketch — Weave with the Excalidraw hand-drawn aesthetic pre-armed.

Whichever surface you opened, your work lives in the same source format. You can move between them without re-doing anything.

Free, because most of it should be

Everything Glyph runs — the engines, the icons, the exports, the AI when you BYO key — runs in your browser. Our cost for a new Free user is roughly zero. We only need revenue once a user needs servers we run (cloud sync, real-time cursors, audit logs).

So Free is the whole product for one person. Forever. The paid tiers exist for collaboration, not for paywalling the diagrams.

What's next

The collaboration backend is what we're building now — versioned cloud diagrams, live cursors, threaded comments, SSO, audit log. When that lands, Pro and Team flip on for the people on the waitlist. Until then, the studio you can use today is the studio that will still be there tomorrow.
