flowss has five plans: Free, Starter, Plus, Ultra and Enterprise. They differ along four lines: which studios you can open, how much saved work you can keep, what AI you get, and whether you can work with other people. This page explains each plan in full, lists every difference shown in the feature matrix on the pricing page, explains monthly and annual billing, and covers the daily usage limits that come with each plan. To buy, change or cancel a plan, see Managing your subscription.
At a glance
| Plan | Monthly price | Annual price | In one line |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | The Studio and the Sketch canvas, free forever. Every engine on the Studio canvas and every template. 3 saved figures per studio. No AI. Solo. |
| Starter | $15 / month | $12 / month, billed $144 once a year | All 9 studios, unlimited saved work, your own AI key. No hosted AI, no collaboration. |
| Plus | $29 / month | $25 / month, billed $300 once a year | Starter, plus 200 hosted AI points a month, teams, comments and live sessions for up to 3 people. Marked Most popular. |
| Ultra | $59 / month | $49 / month, billed $588 once a year | Plus, with 600 AI points a month, unlimited live sessions, voice and screenshare, and shared team libraries. |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Ultra, plus a named customer success manager. SSO, SCIM, audit export, data residency and dedicated tenancy are planned "At GA". |
All prices are in US dollars. Prices are exclusive of any tax that has to be collected. Free and Enterprise have no billing cycle to choose: Free is $0 however you look at it, and Enterprise is priced by quote.
Note: The pricing page prints the engine and template counts straight from the live catalogue. At the time of writing they were 110 engines (FlowScript included) and 5,012 templates. New engines and templates are added often, so check the pricing page for the current numbers. The count is the same on every plan.
Where you see your plan
| Place | What it shows |
|---|---|
| /pricing | The five plan cards, the monthly/annual toggle, the full feature matrix, the AI point packs and a comparison with other tools. |
| /account | Your Current plan card: the plan name, its blurb, what you pay and when it renews. See Account settings and your data. |
| The account menu in every studio | An AI points row, plus Account & billing (your account page) and Plans (the pricing page). |
| The studio switcher | On Free, studios outside your plan show a lock and the words "Part of Starter". |
If you are on Free and open a studio your plan does not include, you land on the pricing page with a short note at the top, for example "Lab is part of Starter". It goes on to say that the Studio and the Sketch canvas stay free and that Starter opens every workstation. If Starter cannot be bought yet, it adds: "Starter isn't purchasable on this deployment yet — joining the waitlist costs nothing and holds your place."
The five plans in detail
Free
Price: $0. The card reads "free forever · nothing to bill on either cycle", and its button is Open Studio.
Blurb: "The Studio and the Sketch canvas, free forever — every engine, every template. Single-player, with limits you'll feel on real work."
Limits line on the card: "Studio + Sketch canvas · every engine and template · 3 saved figures per studio · no AI · solo".
What Free includes:
- The Studio — every engine that opens on the universal canvas, plus FlowScript, with no cap on how much you draw. The BPMN and Weave engines are the exception: they live in their own studios, which start on Starter.
- The whole template catalogue, every category, except the templates written for the Starter studios (BPMN, Weave and the dedicated FlowScript studio).
- The Sketch canvas — pens, shapes, frames, arrows and a starter set of wireframes.
- Export to PNG, SVG and PDF, including multi-figure PDF bundles, plus JSON source and the journal style presets. Exports are never watermarked.
- Local storage and permalinks. Work lives in your browser and syncs to your account, and you can share a figure as a permalink.
- Cloud sync across devices. Your workspace syncs on every plan, Free included. On Free the cloud Library keeps up to 3 saved projects.
What Free does not include:
- The other seven studios: Study, Evidence, Lab, Weave, Science, Figure and BPMN.
- Any AI. There are no hosted AI points on Free, and bringing your own AI key starts on Starter. The AI badge in the studios reads No AI on Free.
- Collaboration. Live sessions, comments and shared projects start on Plus.
Starter
Price: $15 a month, or $12 a month billed annually ($144 once a year). The card's tag line is "solo, unlimited".
Blurb: "All 9 workstations and unlimited solo work. No hosted AI, no collaboration."
What Starter adds over Free:
- All 9 workstations: Studio, Study, Evidence, Lab, Weave, Science, Figure, BPMN and Sketch.
- The full Sketch pro kit: all 111 wireframes, presentation mode and version history.
- Unlimited saved figures, and no 3-project ceiling on the cloud Library.
- All engines and FlowScript fully unlocked, including the BPMN and Weave engines in their own studios.
- Your own AI key. Paste a key from any of eight providers and every AI feature runs through it, unmetered: calls on your key spend no points. A daily fair-use ceiling still applies. See Bring your own AI key.
- TikZ / LaTeX export, which is an AI conversion and runs on your own key.
- Version history.
- Priority email support.
Starter is single-player: collaboration starts on Plus. Starter includes no hosted AI points, so AI features need your own key.
Plus
Price: $29 a month, or $25 a month billed annually ($300 once a year). The card carries the Most popular ribbon and the tag line "AI points + small-team live".
Blurb: "Starter, plus 200 AI points a month and live sessions for a small team."
What Plus adds over Starter:
- 200 AI points a month of hosted AI — "1 pt per AI call · agent run 8 · deep run 47". This is a hard allowance, not unlimited.
- Top-up packs whenever you need more points, from $5. Purchased points never expire.
- Architect mode (multi-step AI), the flowss Lab Agent (block-scoped edits) and the auto-fix loop (render, AI fix, re-render) on hosted points. Starter can already run all three on its own key; Plus runs them without one.
- Advanced Photo → engine recognition (clean-up, alternates and render repair). This one is a plan gate, not a key gate: it needs Plus even if you bring your own key.
- Team spaces with member roles (owner, admin and member).
- Live sessions for up to 3 people, with guests on any plan, and canvas comments.
- Shared cloud projects.
Voice, screenshare and shared team libraries are Ultra features.
Ultra
Price: $59 a month, or $49 a month billed annually ($588 once a year). Tag line: "the whole platform".
Blurb: "Everything flowss does, with real-time collaboration off the leash."
What Ultra adds over Plus:
- 600 AI points a month — 3 times the Plus allowance.
- Unlimited live sessions — no cap on who joins.
- Voice and screenshare in every live session.
- Workspace component libraries shared with your whole team.
- Live cursors and threaded comments in public Sketch, Weave and Science sessions, and cross-studio handoffs within your own workspace.
- Priority support.
Enterprise
Price: Custom. The card reads "priced by quote · not sold per billing cycle", and its button is Contact sales, which opens an email to the flowss team.
Blurb: "Ultra, plus a named CSM — and SSO, SCIM, audit log, residency and dedicated tenancy at GA."
What the Enterprise card lists:
- Everything in Ultra. The feature matrix gives Enterprise the same 600 AI points a month as Ultra.
- SAML 2.0 SSO and SCIM provisioning — at GA.
- Google / Microsoft SSO — at GA.
- Audit log export to your SIEM — at GA.
- EU / US data residency — at GA.
- Dedicated single-tenant deployment — at GA.
- An on-premise option for regulated industries — at GA.
- A named CSM; a custom DPA and SLA — at GA.
Note: "At GA" means the capability is planned for general availability and does not exist yet. The pricing matrix marks these cells with a clock badge reading At GA rather than a tick, so you can tell shipped features from planned ones at a glance. No uptime SLA has been published.
Monthly or annual billing
Every self-serve paid plan (Starter, Plus and Ultra) is sold two ways: month by month at its list price, or as a year paid in advance at a lower per-month rate. The annual rate is quoted per month and charged once a year.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual, per month | Charged once a year | Saving per year | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $15 | $12 | $144 | $36 | 20% |
| Plus | $29 | $25 | $300 | $48 | 13.8% |
| Ultra | $59 | $49 | $588 | $120 | 16.9% |
The billing toggle on the pricing page
Above the plan cards is a two-button toggle labelled Monthly and Annual. The page opens on Monthly. The Annual button carries a green badge, "save up to 20%", which is the best saving across the three plans.
Under the toggle, one sentence says what the choice does:
- On Monthly: "Monthly plans are charged every month. Free is $0 and Enterprise is quoted — neither has a billing cycle to choose."
- On Annual: "Yearly plans are quoted per month and charged once a year. Free is $0 and Enterprise is quoted — neither has a billing cycle to choose."
How each paid card changes with the toggle:
| On | Big number | Line under the price | Badge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | The monthly price, "/ month" | "billed monthly · cancel anytime" | None |
| Annual | The annual per-month rate, "/ month" | "billed annually · $144 charged once a year" (with that plan's own yearly total) | "Save $36 a year · 20% off" (with that plan's own figures) |
The yearly total always sits beside the per-month figure, so you know exactly what leaves your account and when.
When a billing cycle is not open yet
A plan can be open for checkout on one cycle and not yet on the other. When the cycle you are looking at is not open for a plan, its card shows the plan's own link (for example Join the Plus waitlist) and an amber note in place of a Subscribe button:
- "Plus isn't open for yearly billing yet — nothing here will charge you the monthly price instead. Switch to Monthly above to see what Plus costs today."
- "Plus isn't purchasable yet on either billing cycle. The waitlist costs nothing and holds your place."
You are never charged the other cycle's price in place of the one you chose. The availability chips under the feature matrix also say which cycles are open: "Yearly billing — not open yet" or, for example, "Yearly billing — live for Starter · Plus".
What the cycle changes, and what it does not
The cycle changes only how often you are charged. It never changes what you get:
- An annual Ultra subscriber is entitled to exactly what a monthly Ultra subscriber is.
- The AI allowance is monthly on every plan. A year paid up front still resets your points on the 1st of each month (UTC) — it is not delivered as a year of points in one drop.
- To switch cycles later, use the billing portal. See Managing your subscription.
Launch offers
From time to time a launch offer may run. When one does, the pricing page shows a green banner headed Launch offer, each discounted card shows the list price struck through beside the launch price with a "Launch offer · N% off" badge, and the line under the price reads "billed monthly · new subscriptions only · this rate is yours for as long as you stay subscribed · offer ends" followed by the date. The discount is applied automatically at checkout with no code to type.
A launch rate applies to monthly plans only. An annual plan checks out at the annual rate shown on its card, and on the Annual view a plan running a launch offer adds " · the launch offer is monthly-only" to the line under its price. The "save" badges are hidden on any plan running a launch offer, because the saving would be measured against a price new subscribers are not paying. The banner also explains that the discount is attached only at checkout (a plan that never carried it cannot pick it up later), and that if you later change plan in the billing portal your launch discount moves to the new plan at that plan's launch price. When no offer is running, there is no banner and every card shows its list price.
Can you buy a plan today?
Each paid plan becomes purchasable on its own. Which plans are open is shown in two places on the pricing page:
- On the card. A plan that is open for checkout on the cycle you are viewing shows a button: Subscribe to Starter, Upgrade to Plus or Go Ultra. A plan that is not open shows its waitlist link (Join the Starter waitlist, Join the Plus waitlist, Join the Ultra waitlist) and, unless it is Plus, a Waitlist ribbon.
- In the availability chips under the feature matrix, labelled Tier availability: "Free — live today", a chip naming the plans that are "live today", a chip naming the plans on "waitlist while billing goes live", the yearly-billing chip, "Enterprise — contact today, deploy at GA", and an AI chip.
Joining a waitlist
- Choose Join the Starter waitlist (or the Plus or Ultra equivalent) on the pricing page.
- The sign-in page opens with a waitlist heading, for example "Join the Starter waitlist", above a line with the plan's monthly price ("Starter waitlist · $15 / mo"). For Starter the page says "Sign in once and we'll email you the moment Starter goes live."; the Plus and Ultra versions first summarise what the plan adds, then say "Sign in once and we'll email you as soon as it opens."
- Sign in or create an account. If you create one, it is a Free account, so you get the Studio and the Sketch canvas straight away.
- You are added to the waitlist and receive an email headed "You're on the Starter waitlist" (or the plan you chose), saying you will be emailed the moment it opens. Joining costs nothing.
The AI availability chip
Hosted AI (the points included with Plus, Ultra and Enterprise) needs the service's own AI provider to be switched on. The AI chip says which state applies:
- "Hosted AI — live today": hosted points work as described on this page.
- "AI — your own key, Starter and up (hosted allowance not switched on)": every AI feature runs on your own key. In the feature matrix, the hosted-AI rows then read "BYO key" from Starter up (Free stays a cross), the points row reads "Not enabled" in every column, and the point-pack row shows crosses throughout.
The full feature matrix
This is every row of the matrix headed Full feature matrix — Every difference, spelled out on the pricing page. A tick means included, a cross means not included, "BYOK" means it works on your own AI key, and "At GA" means planned. The rows below show the matrix as it reads when hosted AI is live. Where this page writes "All" in the engine and template rows, the pricing page prints the current count, which is identical in every column.

AI on each plan
AI follows a simple ladder:
| Plan | Hosted AI points | Your own key | Can buy point packs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | None | Not available | No |
| Starter | None | Yes, unmetered | No |
| Plus | 200 a month | Yes, unmetered | Yes |
| Ultra | 600 a month | Yes, unmetered | Yes |
| Enterprise | 600 a month | Yes, unmetered | Yes |
What a hosted AI call costs in points:
| Operation | Points |
|---|---|
| A standard AI call (generate or refine) | 1 |
| A fast, mechanical call (detect, classify, suggest) | 1 |
| An Architect run (plan, build, critique, refine) | 4 |
| An agent run | 8 |
| A single call on the deep model (the grounded deep canvas analysis) | 4 |
| A deep-specialist run (the multi-studio conductor, the methods and statistics review) | 47 |
| An attached image | adds 2 |
| A flow | the sum of its steps |
The allowance resets on the 1st of every calendar month (UTC) and does not carry over. Purchased points are spent only after the monthly allowance is gone, and never expire.
Point packs are one-time payments:
| Pack | Price | Per point |
|---|---|---|
| 100 points | $5 | 5.0¢ |
| 500 points | $20 | 4.0¢ |
The pricing page offers them under the heading Need more AI than your plan includes? Packs are only for plans with a monthly allowance (Plus, Ultra and Enterprise). Your own API key skips points entirely, from Starter up. For how points are counted, the badge in each studio and what happens when you run out, see AI points and limits. For keys, see Bring your own AI key.
Daily usage limits by plan
Some server-side services carry a daily cap that resets at midnight UTC. Your account page shows today's count against each one under Today's usage.
| Meter on your account page | Free | Starter | Plus | Ultra | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI requests | 60 | 60 | 200 | 400 | 500 |
| Headless render | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 | 60 |
| Server-side export | 10 | 10 | 50 | 200 | 500 |
| PlantUML proxy | 300 | 300 | 1,000 | 2,500 | 5,000 |
| TikZ / LaTeX | 5 | 5 | 25 | 100 | 200 |
| Literature search | 60 | 200 | 500 | 1,000 | 2,000 |
Notes:
- The headless render cap is 60 a day on every plan. What an API key adds is a cap of your own rather than one shared with everyone on your IP address.
- Engines rendered through the Kroki relay have their own daily cap with the same figures as the PlantUML proxy (300 on Free and Starter, 1,000 on Plus, 2,500 on Ultra, 5,000 on Enterprise). Your account page has no meter for it.
- Requests you make on your own AI key spend no points, but they are not unlimited: a fair-use ceiling of 1,000 requests a day per account applies, of which at most 300 can be agent runs. These ceilings are the same on every plan that can use a key.
- These caps are separate from the AI point allowance. While the points system is running, hosted AI is metered in points, and the AI requests meter is a backstop daily counter that applies only when it is not. The other meters measure how many requests reach each service in a day.
Saved-work limits on Free
Free keeps 3 documents in every place you keep documents:
- 3 saved projects in the cloud Library;
- 3 figures in each studio's document bar (the Studio's figure tabs and the Sketch board bar, for example).
On your last free slot you see a warning: "This is your last free figure slot in this studio — Starter removes the limit." in a studio, or "This is your last free project slot — Starter removes the limit." in the Library. When a bar is full, a fourth is refused with a message, and nothing you already have changes:
- "Free accounts keep 3 figures in a studio, and this one is full. Every figure here stays open and fully editable — nothing has been archived or deleted. Delete one to make room, or upgrade to Starter for unlimited figures."
- In the Library: "Free accounts keep 3 saved projects, and yours are full. Every one of them stays fully editable — nothing has been archived or made read-only. Delete one to make room, or upgrade to Starter for unlimited projects."
If you already hold more than 3 (for example after a paid plan ends), the bar reads "This studio holds N figures, and free accounts keep 3. Nothing has been deleted and every one of them stays open and fully editable — the cap only pauses new ones." It then says how many to delete to make room, or to upgrade to Starter. Nothing is ever deleted, archived or made read-only to bring you under the limit.
The cap counts each studio's bar separately: you can keep 3 figures in the Studio, 3 boards in Sketch, and so on, as well as 3 projects in the Library.

Collaboration by plan
- Free and Starter are single-player. You can share a figure as a permalink, but live sessions, comments, shared projects and teams start on Plus.
- Plus hosts live sessions for up to 3 people, adds canvas and document comments, shares cloud projects, and creates teams with owner, admin and member roles.
- Ultra and Enterprise host live sessions with no cap on who joins, add voice and screenshare, and share workspace component libraries with the whole team.
- The host's plan seats the session. Guests join on any plan, Free included.
- Live sessions run in the Studio, Lab, Weave, Science, BPMN and Sketch. Study, Figure and Evidence have no live session.
See Live collaboration, Comments and review, Sharing and permissions and Teams and organisations.
Comparing flowss with other tools
The pricing page ends with a section headed flowss against the field, comparing flowss with fifteen other diagramming and whiteboard tools across what you can draw, how it works underneath, AI, getting your work back out, and cost. Competitor prices are vendor list prices read in August 2026, and every competitor's name links to its own page so you can check any cell. A ✓ means yes, a half mark means partly (the cell says how), a ✗ means no, and a dash means the comparison could not be established. Below the table, Where these tools beat us lists the cases where another tool is the better choice.
Choosing a plan
| If you want to | Choose |
|---|---|
| Write diagrams as code, use templates and export, on your own | Free |
| Open Lab, Evidence, Science, Figure, Study, Weave or BPMN | Starter |
| Keep more than 3 figures per studio or 3 cloud projects | Starter |
| Use AI with a key you already pay a provider for | Starter |
| Use AI without managing a key | Plus |
| Use the advanced photo-to-diagram pipeline | Plus |
| Work live with one or two other people, or comment on shared work | Plus |
| Create a team with roles | Plus |
| Run large live sessions with voice and screenshare | Ultra |
| Share component libraries across a team | Ultra |
| Talk to sales about SSO, residency or dedicated tenancy | Enterprise |
Tips
- Try the Studio on Free first: every engine on its canvas and the full template catalogue are included, so you can judge the product before you pay.
- If you already pay an AI provider, Starter plus your own key is the cheapest way to every AI feature except the advanced photo pipeline. Calls on your key spend no points.
- Before choosing annual, check the plan card on the Annual view: if it says the yearly cycle is not open yet, that plan can only be bought monthly for now.
- Points are monthly on every plan. If you only need extra AI occasionally, a top-up pack is cheaper than moving up a plan, and packs never expire.
- Moving up from Plus to Ultra triples your monthly points and removes the live-session cap.
Limits and known constraints
- Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that has to be collected.
- Free has no AI at all: no hosted points, and no own key.
- Starter has no hosted AI. AI features on Starter need your own key.
- Hosted AI points are a fixed monthly allowance, never "unlimited", and unused points do not roll over. Purchased points never expire.
- Point packs can only be bought on a plan with a monthly allowance (Plus, Ultra, Enterprise).
- The headless render API is capped at 60 renders a day on every plan.
- Live sessions are not available in Study, Figure or Evidence.
- Enterprise identity and governance features (SSO, SCIM, SIEM export, residency, single-tenant, on-premise, custom DPA, SLA) are marked "At GA" and are not available yet.
- A plan may be on a waitlist, or open on one billing cycle only, until checkout opens for it. The pricing page always says which.
- Permalinks carry the diagram inside the link itself, so they cannot be made private or password-protected on any plan. Treat a permalink as public.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You land on the pricing page with "Lab is part of Starter" (or another studio name) | You are on Free and opened a studio Free does not include. | Use the Studio or Sketch, or choose a paid plan. |
| "Starter isn't purchasable on this deployment yet — joining the waitlist costs nothing and holds your place." | Shown in that note when Starter cannot be bought yet. | Join the Starter waitlist; you will be emailed when it opens. |
| A paid card shows a waitlist link and "isn't open for yearly billing yet" | That plan is not sold annually yet. | Switch the toggle to Monthly to see what the plan costs today. |
| "isn't purchasable yet on either billing cycle" | The plan is not open for checkout yet. | Join its waitlist. |
| The studio AI badge says No AI | You are on Free, which has no AI. | Starter adds your own key; Plus adds hosted points. |
| The AI badge says Add your key | You are on Starter, which runs AI on your own key. | Add a key in Settings or on your account page. See Bring your own AI key. |
| "AI point packs top up a hosted-AI allowance, and your plan doesn't include one. …" | You tried to buy points on Free or Starter. | Move to Plus or Ultra, or use your own key on Starter. |
| A matrix row shows "BYO key" instead of ticks | Hosted AI is not switched on, so those features run on your own key. | Add your own key (Starter and up). |
| "Free accounts keep 3 figures in a studio, and this one is full. …" | You reached the Free volume limit. | Delete one, or upgrade to Starter for unlimited figures. |
| "Advanced Photo → Engine is part of Plus and Ultra — …", even with your own key | The advanced photo pipeline is a plan feature, not a key feature. | Use the standard photo recognition, or move to Plus. |
