Use the notation that matches the operational question. A process boundary, an approval sequence, a decision rule, an accountability matrix and a measure of waiting time are related, but they should not be forced into the same diagram. This collection helps you choose a useful first view.
Choose this to agree the boundary of an accounts-payable process before modelling its detail. Identify suppliers, inputs, major process steps, outputs and customers, then replace the example requirements and metrics with evidence from your organisation.

Choose this for procurement hand-offs, parallel goods and invoice receipt, and the three-way-match exception loop. It opens in the BPMN workstation on Starter or above. The example tolerances are illustrative, not your organisation's payment policy.

Choose this when a decision depends on combinations of input values. Weight and destination select a shipping band; replace the example domains and rules with your own, then inspect gaps or overlaps under the chosen hit policy.

Choose this when the uncertainty is who does, owns, advises on or needs to hear about each task. Agree the roles with the team before treating the matrix as a working responsibility assignment.

Choose this to compare hands-on work with waiting and rework in a deployment process. Replace the example volumes, times and yields with measured values; a fast individual task can still sit inside a slow end-to-end flow.

A SIPOC map is useful for agreeing where a process starts and ends. BPMN then makes the sequence and hand-offs explicit. Keep the same boundary across those views so that an extra task is a conscious scope change.
Separate rules, roles and performance
A DMN table explains a decision, a RACI matrix assigns responsibilities, and a value stream describes flow and time. Connect these views through consistent task names instead of repeating a rule or a metric in several places where it can drift.
Make the example your own
Reading the public examples and source is free. Editing requires an account with access to the named workstation. Free includes the Studio with up to 3 saved figures and 3 cloud Library projects; dedicated workstations such as Weave and BPMN start on Starter.
Replace example labels, counts and policies before using a template for your work. Optional AI features and exports have their own plan and usage limits.
