SIPOCDSM — EV Vehicle Programme
Fifteen engineering activities of an EV programme carrying 39 dependency marks, computing that the plan's workstream ordering leaves 7 rework loops and that resequencing cuts them to 3, quarantined in three iteration blocks: battery/powertrain/thermal, body/closures/crash and the software–homologation–tooling–pilot tail.
Design structure matrixDSM — Hospital EHR Go-Live
Sixteen build and assurance activities for an electronic health record go-live, computing that the project plan's build order carries 5 rework loops and that only 2 survive partitioning, inside a five-activity order-set/interface/testing block and the medication–allergy dictionary pair.
Design structure matrixDSM — MSc Programme Validation
Fifteen validation activities for a new taught master's degree taken in the order the approval form's sections ask for them, computing that 16 of the 35 dependency marks run backwards there against 3 in the partitioned sequence, and resolving the work into three negotiation pairs: modules with credits, assessment with the external examiner, and staffing with the timetable.
Design structure matrixDSM — Offshore Wind Farm Delivery
Fourteen design and commissioning activities for a 1.2 GW offshore wind farm listed by contract package, computing that package order forces 14 rework loops against 3 in the partitioned sequence and isolating the four-way grid-connection loop (consent, export cable, onshore connection, offshore substation) and the vessel-schedule/installation-sequence pair.
Design structure matrixArchiMate — Migration: Plateaus, Gaps and Work Packages
The implementation and migration layer, which answers the question a landscape diagram cannot: what changes between here and there, and in what order. Plateaus are the stable states, a gap names the difference between two of them, and work packages deliver the things that close it.
ArchiMateSoftware Launch — Critical Path, Float and Resources
The reference plan, reported clean. Four teams, a working calendar with two public holidays, a milestone, a board deadline and a today marker. Every bar is derived from the durations and dependencies — nothing here is placed by hand — and the trailing whisker on each bar is its total float, which is the number no other text-driven Gantt tool can show you.
Gantt & critical pathAll Four Dependencies — FS, SS, FF and SF, With Lead and Lag
Every precedence relationship in one plan, which Mermaid cannot express at all: finish-to-start, start-to-start, finish-to-finish and start-to-finish, each with a lag or a lead. `+10cd` is ten ELAPSED days — concrete does not stop curing on a Saturday — and the engine converts that to working days from wherever the predecessor actually lands. Reports clean.
Gantt & critical pathTeaching Case — Why "Just Shorten the Critical Task" Is False
Two chains of exactly equal length run in parallel, so BOTH are critical and every task on them has zero float. Take a week off one of them and the finish date does not move, because the other still holds it. This is the single most expensive misreading of a critical path, and no tool that draws bars without computing them can even show you that it applies.
